A group of guys who call themselves The Pirate Bay – where not only is the clue in the name, but they also kindly have a link to TV Shows, just in case you thought they only hosted non-copyright infringing torrents – are suing some media companies for playing unfair.

Feigning innocence is one thing.

Oh, I really don’t think it is because the media companies have been playing, “unfair”, they have been using illegal practises to the detriment of another party.
TPB is hardly innocent, but they’re not acting illegally.

They get my vote as long as they stay above the fray and show the way to a better future – but if they want to get down and dirty with the corporates and play their game then I’m sorry but they don’t have a leg to stand on, as far as I’m concerned.
As long as they stick to the fundamental issue they base their existence on, which is that merely indexing files is not illegal, then they are in accordance with their national laws. To step into the murky world of what is right/wrong for a commercial company to do to fight it’s corner moves them into the sphere of what is right/wrong for them to do to maintain their ad-funded existence – which brings them into the justification of taking advertising revenue for what? Not the road they want to go down, in my opinion.
I admire them from a nationalistic/technological point of view but from a commercial point of view they should be reaching out and looking to work with the creative community to make sure everybody gets paid – otherwise they’re freeloading and no better than the corporates they seek to denigrate, again in my opinion.
